Relax, let go, and just be

Friday, August 6, 2010

Today was a fun day. I spent the day at home: I only had a genetics lecture and since they are posted online with the powerpoints its a waist of time and money to cart myself out to the city and back again just for 1 lecture. I did some cleaning and then listened to the lecture. I relaxed a bit.
When Bec came back from her day we joined up with Stephanie, Mark and Dom (friends of becs no doubt). We metroed to their part of town across town and then jumped in Stephs car and found a restaurant. We decided thai food for the night, sat down, ordered drinks (pineapple and vodka for me), and ordered our meal (Pad Thai). We chatted it up and every one was good company. Maybe an hour and a half later we were done and got the bill. Dom decided that he had eaten about 100$ worth of food so he put 100 in. everyone else put in accordingly and when it got to my turn we didnt need to put any more money in. My meal was 30$ and I tried to get Dom to take some money but he wouldnt. We went next door and had a WP shot each (except for steph who was driving) and Dom paid. We got in the car and drove to where Dom needed to get off. Road around after that and got Mackers (mcdonalds). We then got dropped off at Mic and Sarahs place for the night and Mark and Steph went their own way.

Mic and Sarah had cheese and wine for us. Micheal was there too. We chatted and watched "Pooty Tang" a horrible chris rock movie ( I do not suggest it). We then watched the ending of some other movie. It was 3am when we were tired and decided to go to bed. Mic and Sarah planned on having us that night and I slept on the couch. Very comfy.

*****Culture Note: excerpt taken from Lets Go Australia- "If you plan on doing as Austrlians do, you may have to forget what you thought you know about antipodean culture. The following products are as "Aus-thentic" as you thought.
1. Foster's is actually not "Australian for beer". Ask for a Fosters in any bar in Australia and the bartender will ask you where your from- because it cant possibly be Australia. Popular in the UK and the US, Fosters is brewed in Australia but quickly boxed and exported, since the lager inst popular among Aussies. According to recent statistics, 30 pints of Fosters are consumed every second in the UK.
2. Aussie Haircare Products use the slogan "Put some 'roo in your do", and their commercial feature a purple 'roo playing beach volleyball. They play up to the chiche like no other, So this quintessential Australian shampoo is meant to give you shiny locks down under, right? Wrong. Aussie haircare is sold only in the US, UK and Canada so dont expect the australian pharmacy to sell your favorite like of kangaroo-covered shampoo bottles.3. Outback Steakhouse serves the oh-so-typical Bloomin' Onion, Coral Reef Crab Dip, and Kookaburra Wings. But ask for an Outback burger or a Boomerange shrip in a Melbourne restaurant and we are not responsible for whatever jokes the offended waitstaff decides to play on you."*****
